Matt Ramspott earned his Ph.D. in geography at the University of Kansas in May 2006 and was a Self Graduate Fellow. He received a Master of Applied Geography degree from Southwest Texas State University in 2000 and a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1995. While earning his undergraduate degree, he was employed for 2 years as a research assistant in the Department of Biological Sciences at UNL. During his time in San Marcos, TX, he worked as a teaching/research assistant in air photo interpretation, GIS, terrain modeling, and digital cartography. He also worked on applied remote sensing projects involving land cover classification and tracking land use/land cover changes. Matt has experience working in land surveying and field archaeology, and he is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School. Currently his research interests include vegetation mapping, land cover change mapping, imaging spectrometry, disturbance ecology, and plant carbon sequestration.
