Diethrich L.A. Kastens
Dietrich Kastens is a Research Affiliate with the KARS Program. Dietrich previously worked as a Research Assistant for the KARS Program for five years while earning his M.A. in Geography (1999) with an emphasis on production agriculture. He received his B.A. in Geography from the University of Kansas in 1994 with an emphasis on geographic information systems and remote sensing. At KARS, his work responsibilities included modeling crop production, conducting research in precision agriculture, developing agricultural GIS databases, and project coordination. Dietrich has over 6 years of GIS database development and project coordination experience and over 12 years of applied experience in the field of agriculture. During the past year and a half, he has worked to facilitate the adoption of precision farming techniques and technologies on the Kastens family farm located in Rawlins County in northwest Kansas.
